The following are shown to be the major cause of impotence through research studies.

- Nearly 1% is caused by neurological disorders, alcoholism, Alzheimers, Parkinson disease, certain kidney patients, some drugs and medication.

- Psychological causes such as depression, personal conflict, stress, financial worries, beliefs, mid-life crisis,and so on.

- 25% is caused by certain surgical action or injury such as those that interfere with the messages to the nerves and spinal cord e.g. pelvic surgery.

- 30% by disease related to the channels for the conveyance of body fluid i.e. heart disease, arterial disease, blood pressure

- 40% is caused by Diabetes, a major cause that tends to run in families but is not confined to hereditary reasons.

Overweight has become such a problem today because it causes so many physical problems one of which is diabetes. Nearly 1 in 2 people are diabetic or pre diabetic.
